Area of Work : Advanced Transmission and Renewable & Microgrids (WG-1 and WG-9)

Objectives: This work focuses on two areas, namely advanced transmission systems and integration of renewable energy at transmission and distribution levels in India. On advanced transmission the research areas include, the trends in transmission worldwide and in India, technologies for protection of transmission network via PMU/PDC, remedial action schemes, maintenance duration reduction technologies (like robotic control etc). On the integration of renewables, the research objectives are to – study and recommend appropriate solutions for improving the CUF (capacity utilization factor) of Renewables. Study tools available for forecasting and scheduling of Wind and Solar and recommend appropriate tools. Also to develop set of technical standards, guidelines and technology recommendations for integration of renewable sources into the grid so that the solutions adopted are future proof.

Qualifications and Experience Required: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering OR M.Tech in Electrical Engineering with 5 years experience in relevant field.
