As a Development Test Engineer, you will design and implement test systems and infrastructure to verify and assure the roll-out of high-quality products for Smart Grid, one of Cisco’s key initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop test strategies and test plans to ensure software features and hardware platforms meet product requirements.
  • Design test bed topology to verify features meet quality requirements.
  • Evaluate test tools.
  • Write simulation tools when necessary
  • Collaborate with different technology groups to ensure proper testing of our products.
  • Establish a test automation environment by leveraging scripts from teams and extending them to cover utility specific scenarios and algorithms.

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the LAN/WAN and network layer protocols.
  • MSEE/CS combined with 7+ years of related experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 9+ yrs related experience.
  • Hands-on experience in scripting and automation with TCL and/or GUI-based automation tools.
  • Strong debugging capability.
  • Hands-on familiarity with test instruments required. Ixia and/or Spirent experience is desirable.
  • Experience in testing Linux applications, white box testing, 3G, WiMax, LTE, and/or WiFi testing is a plus.
  • Having Cisco Certification is a definite plus.
  • Demonstrated track record of learning new technologies, creating development test strategy and execution plan.
  • Must be an independent, quick learner and possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Highly desirable skills include testing SCADA, Modbus, Goose, DNP3, IEC60870-5 for utility market.
  • Experience with testing PLC (Power Line Communication) and mesh technology is a plus.
